The present research aims to evaluate the in vitro antifungal effect of the ethanolic extract of the rhizome of Curcuma longa L. (toothpick) on strains of Candida albicans. A longitudinal, prospective, experimental comparative study was carried out. The population consisted of the set of plates inoculated with the strains of Candida albicans, applying the ethanolic extract of the rhizome of Curcuma longa L. (stick), observing its antifungal effect for said strains. longa L. (toothpick) had an inhibitory effect in vitro against Candida albicans, when using the different concentrations of (25%, 50%, 75% and 100%). To evaluate the antifungal activity, the Kirby Bauer method (diffusion in disk) and the determination of the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), Candida albicans ATCC 10231 was applied, likewise a control group with fluconazole was used; performing 10 repetitions in each case. It is believed that the antifungal effect of the ethanolic extract of the rhizome of Curcuma longa L. ““Palillo““ on Candida albicans ATCC 10231, was sensitive from the concentrations of 50% and 75% with an average diameter of the halos of 12 and 16 mm in diameter respectively, while a concentration of 100% the average diameter of the halo was 25, thus showing an effect similar to fluconazole. The MIC for Candida albicans ATCC 10231 was a concentration of 50%. Finally, it is concluded that the ethanolic extract of the curcuma longa L. ““Palillo““ rhizome does have an antifungal effect on Candida albicans ATCC 10231
