Objective: To know what the complications are 5 years after the surgical technique of inguinal hernias, at Hospital II EsSalud Jorge Reategui Delgado, January 2013 to December 2018. Material and method: Descriptive, comparative, observational study of secondary sources of cross section. It was made to a Population. - Constituted by patients diagnosed with inguinal hernia at the Jorge Reategui Delgado Hospital, during the period from January 2013 to December 2018. Results: 26 patients (28.26%) were registered, representing those who presented some postsurgical complication, of the which predominate indirect inguinal hernias with a percentage of 53.85%, within which the male sex was the most frequent; 80.77% underwent the Lichtenstein Surgical Technique, being the most frequent, and the least frequent with 7.69%, the Rutkow-Robbins Surgical Technique. According to the sex that predominated with a percentage of 84.62% was the male sex. Regarding the age ranges, the most frequent was evident between 55 to 75 years. In the BMI it was presented with a higher percentage of 69.23%, the BMI between 23.14 to 29.14. Among the reported comorbidities, we found 50% of the patients had previously undergone surgery. The Stoppa surgical technique was the one that presented the most frequent number of complications (42.86%), the ¿ least complicated being the Lichtenstein surgical technique (26.58%). The most frequent complication among the different surgical techniques for inguinal hernia repair was neuralg (<6weeks), representing 8.69% of the 92 patients in studies, and the least frequent complication was recurrence (1.08%). Conclusions: The most frequent complication in the 5-year follow-up of patients post-operated for inguinal hernir repair, at the Jorge Reategui Delgado Hospital, in 2013; it was neuralgia (<6 weeks) and / or pain; followed by seroma and the one with the lowest prevalence was recurrences. The Lichtenstein technique was the one with the fewest complications and the one with the highest percentage of complications was the Stoppa technique. Neuralgia being the most frequent complication in the Lichtenstein technique and seroma in the Stoppa technique.
