To analyze if the association Fentanyl - Bupivacaine (FB) is more effective than Bupivacaine alone (BS) due to spinal anesthesia in the control of postoperative pain of pregnant women cesarean at the Hospital Regional Docente de Trujillo (HRDT). Method: A prospective cohort study where 72 clinical histories of pregnant women cesarean in the HRDT between June and December 2019 and grouped in FB, 20 µg of fentanyl plus 7mg of 0.5% bupivacaine (n = 36) and BS group with only 7mg of 0.5% bupivacaine (n=36). Pain was evaluated using the visual analogue pain scale (VAS), and the average of said score was compared between both groups, and the relative risk (RR) was also obtained. Results: The average EVA was significantly lower in the FB group (1.95 vs. 4, p <0.001), effective pain control (EVA ≤4) was achieved in 97% of the FB group and in 64% of the BS group (RR: 1.52, 95% CI: 1.18-1.96, p = 0.024). Conclusion: the FB association is more effective than bupivacaine alone in the control of postoperative pain after cesarean section.
