Objective: To determine if in children with acute appendicitis, there are sociodemographic, clinical, laboratory and surgical factors associated with the presence of acute kidney injury at the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo during the period between January 2018 and December 2023. Material and methods: A cross-sectional analytical study was carried out, evaluating a total of 106 medical records of patients who met the selection criteria, children between 5 and 17 years of age, of both sexes, with a diagnosis of acute appendicitis corroborated by histopathology. , with serum creatinine results upon admission, who have been surgically treated at the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo between January 2018 and December 2023. Results: The prevalence of acute kidney injury in children between 5 and 17 years old with acute appendicitis was 18.8%. Factors associated with acute kidney injury are peritonitis (p = 0.0005), a leukocyte count greater than or equal to 18,000 (p = 0.0015) and a neutrophil value greater than or equal to 85% (p = 0.0381). No association was found between acute kidney injury and sociodemographic and clinical factors. Conclusions: Peritonitis, leukocyte count greater than or equal to 18,000 and a neutrophil value greater than or equal to 85% are factors associated with acute kidney injury in children with acute appendicitis
