OBJECTIVE: To know the clinical - epidemiological profile of superficial mycoses in boys and girls from 1 to 12 years of age, in the Piura district, during the years 2015-2016. MATERIAL AND METHODS. An observational, analytical, cross-sectional and retrospective study was carried out. A total of 964 patients in the Dermatology office area were studied, with a registry of 68 patients with superficial mycosis treated over a two- year period, whose medical records included the legible registry of the variables studied (age, sex, area of residence, anatomical location and diagnosis of superficial mycosis). RESULTS. It was found that, of all the superficial mycosis diagnoses (68), the most prevalent was tinea capitis (50%), with a higher incidence in the female sex 58.82%, resulting in the same prevalence along with the most frequent diagnosis in the study. (30.88%); with an average appearance of 6.5 years; the scalp being the most prevalent body area (50%). High prevalence was evident in the urban area, Piura being the one with the highest incidence. CONCLUSIONS. The prevalence of Tinea Capitis, as the most prevalent superficial mycosis in the study, with the prevalence of the female sex and the urban area, with an average occurrence of 6.5 years, in boys and girls of Hospital II-2 Santa Rosa Piura.
