Objective: To determine if there is a difference in post surgical endothelial cell recount between LASIK technique and PRK technique. Material y Methods: An analytical, observacional, rethrospective study of cohorts was carried out. 96 eyes were studied from patients who fullfield the inclusion criteria; they were divided in two groups: LASIK technique and PRK technique. The data obtained in the pre-operative and post-operative exams were compared in both study groups. Then this results were compared to each other Results: LASIK technique, got a positive difference between the pre and post operative result of 30 cells in the right eye with a p-sig value. of 0.181; and 5 cells in the left eye with a p-sig value. of 0.840. PRK technique, showed a positive difference between the pre- and postoperative results, 17 cells in the right eye with a p-sig value. of 0.477; and 19 cells in the left eye with a p-sig value. of 0.367. It was found that the difference of the recount when subtracting the cells under the LASIK technique minus the cells under PRK is 103, with a p-value of 0.138 Conclusions: There is no statistical significance between the average pre-surgical and post-surgical endothelial cell count in patients who underwent LASIK and PRK refractive surgery
