The present research of quantitative approach, descriptive correlational, non experimental and cross-sectional type; was conducted at the Regional Hospital Lambayeque, with the aim of determining the relationship between risk factors associated with stages of Retinopathy of Prematurity in newborns during the period 2016 - 2019. The sample universe consisted of 100 premature newborns with a diagnosis of Retinopathy of Prematurity. The instrument used was the data collection form, which consisted of 33 items including maternal and neonatal risk factors and stages of ROP. For hypothesis testing, the nonparametric test of Spearman's Rho coefficient was applied at a significance level of 0.05. As a result, the associated maternal risk factors did not show a significant relationship with the ROP stages since the p= 0.816 > 0.05 and the degree of correlation was - 0.24, which indicated that there is a negative relationship; while the neonatal risk factors showed a significant relationship with a significance value of p=0.007 < 0.05 and a degree of correlation of 0.269, including anemia, blood transfusions, intraventricular hemorrhage, persistent ductus arteriosus, oxygen therapy and mechanical ventilation. It was concluded that there is a significant relationship between the variables associated risk factors and ROP stages by obtaining a calculated significance value of p = 0.025 < 0.05; likewise, Spearman's Rho coefficient was 0.225, determining that the relationship between both is low and positive.
