Objective: To establish the morbidity and mortality of late preterm infants who were admitted to the neonatology unit of Hospital Santa Rosa-Piura 2018. Methodology: Observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study. 116 infants who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria considered in this research were included. Results: It was obtained that, among the late preterm infants studied, the male sex prevailed in 51.72% and that 35.30% were born in week 36 with an average weight of 2736.90 g, the average hospital stay was 12.7 days. The pathologies presented were neonatal sepsis 58.62% followed by hyaline membrane disease 39.66%, hypoglycemia 27.59%, Jaundice 26.72%, transient tachypnea of the newborn 18.10%, congenital malformations 9.49%, Apnea of prematurity 6.03%, and to a lesser extent, pulmonary hypertension and necrotizing enterocolitis, both in 1.72%, and finally, neonatal seizures in 0.86%. The percentage of late preterm infants who died was 0.86%. Conclusion: Male sex predominated in late preterm infants, the highest percentage had a good birth weight, in terms of gestation weeks the percentages are very similar for both 34, 35 and 36 week neonates. The main morbidities in late preterm infants were Neonatal sepsis, followed by Hyaline membrane disease, Hypoglycemia, Neonatal jaundice, TTRN, and malformations. Mortality in late preterm infants is low among diseases related to mortality (Pulmonary Hypertension and Neonatal Sepsis). The hospitalization time was approximately 12 days.
