In the present study, with the purpose of determining the prevalence of transmissible venereal tumour and identifying the predisposing factors in canines in Trujillo, 30 dogs were selected that were within the following inclusion criteria: from 0 months of age, of any breed, sex, reproductive condition, type of tenancy and district of provenance, suspected of any neoplasia and residing in the province of Trujillo. They were examined and tested by PAF cytology, swabbing and imprinting to determine whether or not they carried TVT and whether predisposing factors such as sex, age, breed, reproductive condition, type of tenancy and place of provenance had an influence on their presentation. In the results, a prevalence of 66.7% of the neoplasia was found (20/30) and, regarding predisposing factors, age, reproductive condition and type of tenancy had statistical significance (<p=0.05), being dogs between 1 and 8 years old (90%), unneutered (90%) and semi stray (65%) the most affected, while sex, breed and place of provenance, did not have statistical significance (>p=0.05). It is concluded that transmissible venereal tumour is a highly endemic neoplasia in the city of Trujillo and is influenced by predisposing factors such as age, reproductive condition and type of tenancy
