Objective: To evaluate the barriers and associated factors to prenatal care during the COVID-19 health emergency in pregnant women who received care at the I-4 Health Center, Ayabaca-Piura during 2021. Methods: An observational, analytic, study was carried out. Data were collected from pregnant women who received prenatal care at the I-4 Health Center in the city of Ayabaca-Piura. A data collection form was designed to identify barriers to prenatal care, which was validated by means of a pilot test (Cronbach's alpha=0.702). The program used to process the data was STATA v.15. Results: A total of 168 pregnant women were surveyed. Regarding barriers to care, 16.7% indicated that it took between 1 and 4 hours to get to the health facility and 50% took between 16 and 60 minutes. Regarding educational barriers, 28% indicated that they had not received any talk about warning signs during their check-ups. Regarding personal and family barriers, 58.9% indicated having presented personal and/or family problems and 14.9% indicated having perceived stress as causes of non-attendance at their checkups. Regarding health system barriers, 59.5% reported long waiting times for prenatal care, 59.5% reported delays in receiving care, 66.7% reported lack of knowledge about prenatal care services and 87.5% reported poor relations with health professionals. Regarding economic barriers, 12.5% reported having economic needs that prevented them from attending their checkups and 61.9% thought that not having social security prevented their access to health services. Conclusions: More than 20% of pregnant women reported perceiving one or more barriers to accessing prenatal care services.
