Objective: To determine if the systemic immune inflammation index is a good predictor of mortality in patients infected with SARSCOV-2. Material and methods: A case-control study was carried out, which included a total of 126 adult patients who had been admitted to the Hospital Santa Rosa - Piura with a diagnosis of Covid-19, according to the selection criteria. the cases that were the patients who died throughout their hospital stay from the disease and the controls that were the patients who had survived throughout their hospital stay from the disease. A calculation was made with the ROC curve and the Youden index to determine the best cut-off point for the Immune Systemic Inflammatory Index (IIIS) and determine through sensitivity and specificity whether it is a predictor of mortality in hospitalized patients. Results: The best cut-off point for the IIIS (>1446.2) was determined with a sensitivity and specificity of 56.14% and 68.12%, respectively. A PCR-adjusted multivariate regression analysis was performed, where it was determined that patients who obtain an IIIS > 1446.2 have twice the risk of mortality compared to those who do not. Simultaneously, the neutrophil-lymphocytic index (NLR) was evaluated, obtaining a cut-off point of 6. Through PCR-adjusted multivariate regression analysis, the result was that patients with NLR >6 have four times the risk of mortality. Conclusion: The systemic immune inflammatory index has a predictive value for mortality in patients with SARSCOV-2 infection.
