Determine if there is a relationship between salivary pH and dental caries in diabetic patients at the Leoncio Prado Huamachuco 2023 Hospital. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional, observational and descriptive study, the sample consisted of 110 patients diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus type II, who attended the dental service of the Leoncio Prado Hospital, Huamachuco. A form was used to collect data; its reliability was 82.5% for dental caries using Cohen's kappa coefficient and 0.989 for salivary pH using the intraclass compensation coefficient, both of which were very reliable. The data were processed in SPSS v 26.0; Spearman's evaluation test was used in the analytical statistics. Results: A very high inverse score of -0.826 was obtained between salivary pH and dental caries in diabetic patients at the Leoncio Prado Huamachuco Hospital. The controlled patients had an average salivary pH of 7.45, and the uncontrolled patients had an average of 5.45. An average of ICDAS II code 5 was obtained in uncontrolled patients and code 3 in controlled patients. Conclusions: There is an inverse correlation between salivary pH and dental caries in diabetic patients. Salivary pH was more acidic in uncontrolled patients. Dental caries using ICDAS II was of greater severity in uncontrolled patients.
