Objective: To determine the maternal risk factors associated with early neonatal sepsis in newborns of the Hospital Jorge Reátegui July - December 2017. Materials and methods: An observational, retrospective, cross-sectional study was carried out. The study population consisted of neonates with the diagnosis of early neonatal sepsis, a sample composed of 71 cases that met the established inclusion and exclusion criteria, obtained from the review of medical records. Results: It was found that 73.2% (36) of mothers aged between 19-35 years, married 50.7% (36), secondary education degree 49.3% (35), marginal urban area 63.4% (45). Within the obstetric characteristics, 28.6% (21) were primitive, 35.2% (25) nulliparous, 95.8% (68) attended a NPC, with an intergenesic period between 18 and 60 months, 43.7% (31), in addition, 52.1% (37) of the birth was due to dystocic delivery. Regarding maternal factors, it has been observed that in 47.9% (34) of the ITU and vaginosis 25.4% (18) a higher percentage has been observed, unlike the other maternal factors, 0.016 statistical significance has also been produced and they have a direct influence 0.284. Conclusions: The maternal risk factors associated with neonatal sepsis were the degree of education, origin, being primitive, nulliparous, dystocic birth, UTI and vaginosis.
