To determine if the low socioeconomic level, discomfort, the lower year of study and have a partner are factors associated with the non-use of barrier methods in medicine students who are in the fifth and sixth year of the Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego in the semester 2021-I. Material and methods: An analytical, cross-sectional study were carried out in which 129 fifth and sixth year medical students were included, according to selection criteria, which were divided according to the use or non-use of barrier methods. calculated the chi square and the statistician odds ratio. Results: In the multivariate analysis we found as factors associated with the non use of barrier methods the variables low socioeconomic level with an adjusted OR of 13.5 (CI 2.9-23.1)(p=0.012), having a partner with adjusted OR of 6.8 (CI 1.7- 10.9)(p=0.031), discomfort with adjusted OR of 10.1 (CI 2.5-18.2)(p=0.015) and lower year of study with adjusted OR of 5.2( CI 1.9-10.1)(p=0.028).There were no significant differences for the variables age, age of sexual debut, number of sexual partners, gender, religious beliefs, non-access to barrier methods and history of STIs among students who were not users or users of barrier methods (p>0.05). Conclusion: the low socioeconomic level, the discomfort, and the lower year of study in addition and have a partner are factors associated with the non-use of barrier methods in students who are in the fifth and sixth year of the Antenor Orrego Private University in the semester 2021-I.
