The main objective of this thesis is to carry out the road impact study of the National University of Jaén. Currently, all public and private vehicular flow travels only on this road, a two-lane Class I highway, being the only existing route that allows getting from the urban area of the city to the university campus, in addition, through the which different light and heavy vehicles travel towards the province of San Ignacio and other districts. The increase in trips generated by the university is correlational to its growth, and said increase in flow will be distributed in the existing geometric road system, which is constantly traveled by university students, teachers and other residents, who put at risk its integrity and security due to lack of adequate road infrastructure and signage. This research takes as the study area the road called Carretera Jaén – San Ignacio on a 4.3 km route, with a direct impact area of 1km radius. The vehicle capacity study was carried out on three days (Friday, Saturday and Monday) for 15 consecutive hours (07:00 - 22:00), at convenient strategic points for the investigation, thus determining the Average Daily IMD index, the peak hours, vehicle flows and peak hour factor in the sections under study. The office work consisted of the application of the HCM 2010 methodology and simulation in the SYNCHRO 8 software for the proposed design. Service Levels A and B were obtained as results, according to the proposed solution.
