Objetive: Demonstrate the association between the increased frequency of hand hygiene and the manifestation of contact dermatitis in care workers of the Regional Teaching Hospital of Cajamarca 2020-2022. Methods: Basic, non-experimental, cross-sectional and correlational research. A sample of 246 health workers was chosen by non-probability sampling. Use of statistical package SPSS version 25. Results: The increase in Hand Hygiene increased contact dermatitis in workers with a value of p=0.020. There was a higher prevalence of contact dermatitis in workers in COVID care areas (p=0.034). Prevalence of contact dermatitis (56.1%), more frequent on the hand (52.9%), chlorhexidine was the disinfectant substance most recognized as the cause of contact dermatitis (48.55%). The most frequent sign was dryness (86.23%). Risk factors: hand washing with water and chlorhexidine 2.02 times, previous history of atopy (72.3%), the prevalence of contact dermatitis 2,054 times, and washing > 25 times per shift 8,160 times. Conclusions: It was found that the increase in the frequency of hand hygiene increases contact dermatitis, a history of atopy and dermatitis, washing hands more than 25 times per shift, and use of chlorhexidine were risk factors
