The purpose of this research was to identify hepatotropic viruses as predisposing factors to Guillain-Barré syndrome. Methods: A Systematic Review and meta-analysis was carried out, the search was performed in three databases: PubMed, Scopus and Science Direct, from 2018 to June 2023. Cohort studies, case-controls, or both, that studied hepatotropic viruses as predisposing factors to Guillain Barre Syndrome were included. The bias of each study was assessed by the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. Result: Reports of only two hepatitis viruses were found. Hepatitis A virus was found to be 4. 85 times more likely to develop Guillain Barre syndrome, with a significant association (OR = 4.85; 95% CI = 1.23 - 19.02; p = 0.02), however, Hepatitis E virus did not prove to be a predisposing factor for the development of Guillain Barre syndrome, although it is 3.03 times more likely to have had Guillain Barre syndrome, this association is not significant (OR = 3.03; 95% CI = 0.44 - 20.86; p = 0.26). No information was found for Hepatitis B,C,D viruses. Conclusions: Hepatitis E virus is not a predisposing factor for Guillain Barre syndrome
