Introduction: Intestinal parasitosis (P.I.) is one of the most frequent morbidities during childhood, its prevention should be adequate because it leads to different nutritional and neurological disorders in those who suffer from it. Objective: To assess whether the non-exclusive breastfeeding (NEBF) is a risk factor for intestinal parasitosis in children under 5 years of age treated at the Hospital Belén de Trujillo (HBT). Method: Study of cases and controls where 100 medical records (50 cases and 50 controls) of children under 5 years of age treated in HBT Pediatrics during the 2016 to 2018 period were reviewed. The Odds Ratio (OR) was calculated to the bivariate analysis and the multivariate analysis was performed by logistic regression for the analysis of the covariates. Results: 44% of children with IP were exposed to NEBF, this meant a risk of 3.55 times (95% CI: 1.33-9.45, p = 0.011) after the multivariate analysis. Conclusion: NEBF is a risk factor for intestinal parasitosis in children under 5 years of age.
