The present study aimed to evaluate the relationship between the types of physical activity intensity and depressive symptoms in physicians of the residency program of the Victor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital. Materials and methods: An analytical cross-sectional study was carried out with the participation of physicians from the residency program of the Victor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital, using informed consent and the data collection form as a tool, which consists of two scales: depressive symptoms and physical activity. Results: The study included a total of 98 resident physicians out of a population of 153, in which it was found that the intensity of physical activity had no significant association with depressive symptoms (p = 0.312). The resident physicians who had depressive symptoms and had low physical activity were 50.0%, with moderate physical intensity were 40.7% and those with high physical activity were 9.3%. Likewise, it was shown that resident physicians with low physical intensity had a PR of 1.4 (95% CI 0.67-2.92) and with moderate intensity of physical activity had a PR = 1.634 (95% CI 0.78-3.40). On the other hand, intervening variables such as age (p=0.987), working hours (p=0.073), sex (p=0.724), marital status (p=0.735), year of residence (p=0.256), specialty (p=0.445) and BMI (p=0.185) had no statistical significance with depressive symptoms. Conclusions: Physical activity intensity had no association with depressive symptoms, neither did the variables; age, sex, working hours, marital status, year of residency, specialty and BMI in resident physicians.
