Objective: To determine if sociodemographic risk factors are associated with non-adherence to Pap smears of the cervix at La Noria Hospital. Material and Methods: A retrospective analytical, observational, case-control study was conducted. The study population consisted of 112 women of childbearing age according to established inclusion and exclusion criteria distributed in two groups: with or without PAP adherence; The odds ratio and the chi-square test were calculated. Results: The low degree of instruction is a risk factor for non-adherence to Pap smears of the cervix with an odds ratio of 2.45 which was significant (p <0.05). Nulliparity is a risk factor for non-adherence to Pap smears of the cervix with an odds ratio of 3.1 which was significant (p <0.05). The socioeconomic level is a risk factor for non-adherence to Pap smears of the cervix with an odds ratio of 3.88 which was significant (p <0.05). Non-cohabiting marital status is a risk factor for non-adherence to Pap smears of the cervix with an odds ratio of 2.75 which was significant (p <0.05). In the multivariate analysis, the variables are recognized as low level of education, nulliparity, low socioeconomic status, non-cohabiting marital status, knowledge of PAP and difficulty in access as risk factors for non-adherence to cervical Pap smear. Conclusions: The low level of education, nulliparity, low socioeconomic status, non-cohabiting marital status, low knowledge of PAP and difficulty in access are risk factors for non-adherence to Pap smears of the cervix. Keywords: Risk factors, non-adherence, Pap smear of the cervix.
