Objective: Determine if High Blood Pressure is a risk factor for Gallstones among adult patients. Material and Methods: A retrospective case-control study was carried out including 255 adults, according to selection criteria, which were divided into 2 groups: 85 Adults with Gallstones and 170 Adults without Gallstones; applying the odds ratio and the chi square statistical test. Results: The statistical analysis shows that: The High Blood Pressure had a frequency of 29,4% among the Cases and 27,0% among the Controls, finding no significant association between High Blood Pressure and Gallstones OR = 1,123, IC 95% [0,631 – 1,999], (p= 0,693). On the other hand, Female Sex OR = 3,938, IC 95% [2,262 - 6,857], (p < 0.001). Age below 60 years old OR = 1,73, IC 95% [1,02 – 2,94], (p= 0,041). And NSAIDs use OR = 3,724, IC 95% [1,059 – 13,098], (p= 0,029) were found to be risk factors for Gallstones. Conclusion: The frequency of High Blood Pressure in patients with Gallstones was 29,4% while the frequency in patients without Gallstones was 27,0%. High Blood Pressure is not a risk factor for Gallstones, However Female Sex, Age below 60 years old and NSAIDs use were found to be risk factors for Gallstones.
