To determine the level of knowledge about organ donation of students in the 10th cycle of the Human Medicine career at the Antenor Orrego Private University and its relationship with some sociodemographic variables. Material and methods: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted. We included 121 students who met the selection criteria. A questionnaire on the level of knowledge about organ donation, created by Ortiz & Ventura and validated by professionals of the Health Sciences, was used, this had a high level of reliability (Alfa Cronbach 0.73). The level of knowledge is classified as low (0-6 correct answers), medium (7-8 correct answers), or high (9-10 correct answers). This instrument was applied to the participants, descriptive statistics were made and the level of knowledge was compared with the socio-demographic variables using the Chi Square test. Results: The average age was 23 years old (range 21-37 years old), 49% of the participants were female, 79% of them professed some religion, 83% acquired their knowledge of donation from an academic setting and 25% of them had a family member or close contact associated with the donation. 47% of the participants had a high level of knowledge, 42% had a medium level and the remaining 11% had a low level. No relationship was found between the level of knowledge about organ donation and the students age (p=0.696), their sex (p=0.794), the origin of their knowledge (p=0.734) or whether they had a family member or close contact that required or may require donation (p=0.269). The level of knowledge about organ donation was significantly related (p=0.008) if the student professed a religion. Conclusion: The highest proportion of students had a high and medium level of knowledge about organ donation, with religious affiliation being related to the level of knowledge shown.
