The objective of the research was to estimate the owned dog population and describe its main demographic characteristics, in addition to knowing the frequency of endo-ectoparasitic control in the district of Florencia de Mora, Trujillo, Peru, 2019. Data collection was carried out by adapting a survey provided by the Regional Health Management (GERESA), where items about canine parasite control were added, applying 1651 surveys. After processing, it was determined that for every 8,047 people there are 1,547 canines; which represents a can/person ratio of 1:5.20; In addition, a 53% dog ownership was recorded, with the average number of dogs per household being 1.78. 53% of the male dogs were reported, 94% intact, 70% mestizo, and rabies vaccination coverage was 72%. Regarding parasitic control, according to the owners, most of their canines had a control, 59% endoparasitic, and 62% ectoparasitic; According to the frequency of canine parasitic control, the owners reported that 34% of dogs had endoparasitic control and 39% ectoparasitic control every 6 months or more, likewise the 2 types of most used antiparasitic products were determined according to application; that for the endoparasitic control it was through liquid with 44% and 27% injection, and in the ectoparasitic 39% through injection and 25% with pipette. It is concluded that the increase in the canine population with owner, and its poor responsible ownership, puts the population of the district of Florencia de Mora at risk of contracting zoonotic diseases, such as parasitic diseases, requiring that the health sector authorities plan an adequate control program. population, canine rabies vaccination and responsible ownership
