The main objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of glutamine associated with glutamic acid in the diet of Cavia porcellus on the productive and economic indices of guinea pigs in intensive guinea pig breeding. We used 64 guinea pigs between females and males, 15 days old, with an initial average weight of 337.59 grams, evaluated for 58 days in two phases: growth (15 - 32 days), fattening (33 - 74 days). The animals were distributed through a completely randomized design with four treatments (0%, 0.025%, 0.050%, 0.075%) and four repetitions, with each experimental unit having four animals. The results were analyzed by means of a regression analysis of variance. In the growth phase, in terms of daily weight gain (P <0.01) the best results were obtained with 0.075% of glutamine in the diet and in the feed conversion (P <0.05) the best result was 0.058% of glutamine in the diet. In the fattening phase, significant variation was found in the weight gain and feed conversion (P <0.01). In the total period, no significant variation was found between the treatments. The highest yields were obtained with 0.025% and 0.050% inclusion of glutamine associated with glutamic acid. It is concluded that the inclusion of glutamine associated with glutamic acid improves the productive and economic behavior of guinea pigs in the growth phase.
