Objective: To determine if there are significant differences in the effectiveness of simple plate and double plates in the treatment of the traumatic diastasis of the pubic symphysis. Materials and Methods: A retrospective cohort analytical study was carried out with a sample of 40 patients with traumatic diastasis of the pubic symphysis, which was divided into two groups according to the selection criteria. The quantitative variables the Mann-Whitney U was used, the qualitative variables were calculated with Chi square and Fisher’s exact test, considering significance al 5%. Results: There were no differences regarding the variables: age, sex anemia, arterial hypertension, type of de fracture, hospital stay, diaphysis distance, surgical time gap and surgical time between the groups exposed to fixation with single plate or double plate (p>0.05). The TEC was higher in the single plate group with 60% and 25% double plate, (p<0.05). There were no differences in the functional outcome of post-operative patients for traumatic diastasis of the pubic symphysis with single or double plate (p>0.05) or in postoperative complications between post-operative patients for traumatic diastasis of the pubic symphysis with single or double plate (p>0.05). Conclusion: It is concluded that the are no differences in the effectiveness of single plates in the treatment of traumatic diastasis of the pubic symphysis in Víctor Lazarte Hospital, Belen Hospital of Trujillo and Trujillo Teaching Regional Hospital
