Objective: To determine if the climatic seasons are a factor of influence in the incidence of Acute Appendicitis in patients older than 15 years. Material and methods: Observational, analytical and retrospective cross-sectional study. Non-probabilistic sampling, sample size of 7164 operated by acute appendicitis between the years 2010 - 2017 in the Regional Teaching Hospital and Belén de Trujillo. The data collection was obtained from the database of each hospital. The analysis test of appendectomy variations and correlation between climatic seasons and the number of appendicitis was applied. Results: 70.9% corresponded to the age group of 15-34 years. 54% of the cases were male. The number of Acute Appendicitis was distributed by months, being higher in January with 711, February with 668 and March with 649. The Analysis of Variance obtained a p-value of 0.047, where there were significant differences in the four seasons of the year and a unit of determination r2 of 0.55. Conclusions: There is a seasonal pattern with increased frequency of acute appendicitis in summer; thus verifying that climatic seasons are factors that influence the behavior of the occurrence of acute appendicitis.
