Objective: To establish that the nutritional status of the adolescent student of the Private University Antenor Orrego relates to the self-perception of his body image. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional correlation study was conducted during 2019. The sample consisted of 241surveyed and observed human medicine students. Results: 6% had a normal nutritional status and 6% altered self-perception of body image. The establishment of relationship between nutritional status and self-perception of body image showed a very significant difference. The average age was 17.55±0.898; 62.7% were women, 70.1% were of local origin, 62.2% were not physically active, 71.8% had inadequate sleep quality, 52.7% had an unhealthy eating and 5.4% had chronic diseases. The eating habits showed significant statistical difference with self-perception of body image. Conclusions: The teenage student´s nutritional status was related to the body image self perception. Self-perception relationship with the eating habits was confirmed. It is suggested to warn about the possibility of finding altered self-perception in students, recommending the scale of figures used, promoting health education with a multidisciplinary team and multi-center and larger research.
