When business competitiveness became relevant in the industry, and the growing need to raise productivity through project management and issues of confidentiality from now on “Executing Company“, resolved to implement a project using PMI global standards to the Engineering, manufacture and supply of hydromechanical equipment for a hydroelectric plant in Peru. The research work developed the Business Case; that reviews the implication of the metallurgical item and determines its impact on the project. The main objective of the project was to develop a methodology that allows the optimal direction of the projects under the PMI standards, through the basic guidelines of the PMBOK® 6th edition guide. Then, the strategies are proposed that allow achieving the achievement of the objective defined by the company in this project. It was determined that for the investment of US $ 15, 623,835 and an execution period of 4 years, NPV values of US $ 2, 604,601 and TIR of 10.861% would be obtained as economic indicators. Obtaining some relevant conclusions as the fundamental development of the business case that will allow the analysis of the viability of the project, highlighting that every project must be aligned to the strategic objectives of the company. Considering also that all expectations of the interested parties are reflected in specific requirements and the inherent risks of the project are determined. Finally, project managers can use the present work as a guide in their projects, adapting it to their realities.
