This thesis develops a proposal for improvement through models of linear programming and a times study in a department store, whose objective is to increase the indicators of satisfaction of waiting in queue and the productivity of sales assistants. In Chapter 1, the conceptual-theoretical framework of the engineering tools was developed, in which we will rely on to find and solve the main problems. In chapter 2, the background and reality were described, and the results of KPI of: waiting in queue and sales assistant availability were presented with 63.5% and 57.7% compared to a 85% set as company goal, which directly affects their sales performance and image. Chapter 3 introduces the methodologies of Linear Programming and Times Study, within the framework set by Deming’s cycle PDCA. In addition to this, the models are supported by tools such as study of work, process management, time series, analysis of variance, Pareto chart and Ishikawa diagram, etc. In Chapter 4, the implementation of the new model in the ARENA simulation software was carried out, with the purpose of validating the solution proposals. Finally, in chapter 5 it is concluded that the improvement proposals manage to solve the problems presented from the root, thus while improving satisfaction KPI in queue at cashier module, and the availability KPI of sales assistants.
