This research analyzes the economic and commercial politic instruments applied by Singapore in the second half of the XX century, with the purpose of taking them as reference to Peru and to identify lessons that would contribute to boost its economic and international trade growth. Singapore is a country that, although its territory is almost twice as smaller than Peru’s, it is recognized as one of the most renowned successful examples worldwide in efficient results matters. Starting with a post-colonial nation immersed in poverty and lacking natural resources at the beginning of the fifties, it is currently positioned as the second most competitive country worldwide. One might ask, then, what is the reason the economic growth of Peru has not boosted yet, oriented to a higher development level?
