The aim of this project is to design a school and a child-development center within a community that faces significant social challenges such as the city of Ventanilla. The focus will be on developing a comprehensive proposal that provides education, recreation, healthcare, and nutrition to children from pre-elementary to middle school (0 to 11 years old.) The main objective will be to improve the quality of life for the students and provide support for parents who cannot care for their children at certain times of the day. The child development center will be made up of a series of spaces for community use, such as a nursery, workshops, and therapy areas to name a few. The school section will have the elementary and middle school teaching areas, as well as several integrated spaces to accommodate a dining room, the library, an exhibition hall, and a multifunctional sports center. The proposed design will be a paradigm shift from traditional-education models and is based on incorporating the Montessori educational system to encourage children’s learning through the spatial continuity between classrooms and the common area, the corridor, and the outside. The common spaces, the exterior areas, and even the corridors will be integrated articulated-spaces designed to maintain a continuous balance with nature in order to create a stimulating environment for the children and to help foster beneficial social-relationships.
