Cancer patients, who will undergo surgery, need to be oriented to have a clear understanding of the objectives of the treatment and its consequences in order to reduce the anxiety generated mixed reactions. OBJECTIVE: To determine the effectiveness of the educational intervention in reducing patient anxiety Cancer of the Board of Anesthesia Pre MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study was quantitative, quasi- experimental and randomized design. They involved 110 patients who underwent firts breast surgery between July and September 2013, gat the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases; it was divided into 55 patients and 55 control group for the study. Two questionnaires before and after the educational intervention, one to determine the level of patient information about their disease and treatment, and another was applied to measure manifestations A of anxiety. In the statistical analysis, data were coded and entered into a database created in SPSS version 15.0 RESULTS : The predominant level of information in the control group ( 56.4 %) and study ( 61.8 %) before the educational intervention was short and the differences were not significant(p = 0.560 ); while following to the control group was small ( 61.8% ) and sufficient study (100% ) , the differences were significant(p = 0.000) . The level of anxiety for both groups before the educational intervention was high; and then he prevailed to control the high level group (98.2 %) and the lowest level study group (96.4%). The difference found in the manifestations of anxiety before the educational intervention was not Signiant (p= 0.513), however after significant (p=0.000). CONCLUSIONS: Educational Intervention reduces anxiety Cancer Patient Room of Pre Anesthesia.
