The San Juan de Lurigancho, was founded on January 13, 1967 by Law No. 16382, it is located northeast of Lima, at an altitude ranging from 190 to 2,200 meters It lies on the right bank of the Rimac River, has a total area of 131.25 km2, it will be considered as urban district with flat areas and hills of steep slopes, whose lands have been occupied, considering the San Juan de Lurigancho as the most populous country. His district boundaries are: The aim of this study was to conduct a study on the type of household solid waste generated in the San Juan de Lurigancho, arising as a consequence of domestic activity. The study of the situation analysis of the solids in the jurisdiction of San Juan de Lurigancho, waste shows that in each of the operations or processes (solid waste generation, storage, segregation and separate collection, collection, transfer, and disposal of solid waste) produce adverse health and environmental impacts; these being: air pollution generated by the emission of methane, particulate matter and carbon monoxide produced by the burning of solid waste; water pollution generated by residents of surrounding areas and remove solid waste thrown into the bed of the Rimac River and Huaycoloro located within the jurisdiction of the district; soil pollution generated by people with little environmental awareness burying waste in the ground, infectious diseases generated by the improper handling and disposal of solid waste, and deteriorating health of the population. Areas that generate greater amount of solid waste per person is zone 1, with 0.745 kg / person / day; Zone 3 followed with 0.560 kg / capita / day, and Zone 2 with 0.479 kg / person / day; Likewise, the area generates less solid waste is zone 4, with 0.216 kg / person / day. The average density for the district of San Juan de Lurigancho is 147,380 kg / m3, according to the MINAM, the daily average density of municipal waste is 227 kg / m3. The physical composition of household solid waste is classified into three types of waste: organic waste with 42.21% of the total weight, followed by 27.65% inert material that come to be diapers, earth, toilet paper and cloth, and with a 30.14 inorganic residue% recyclable. According to the study reaprovechable type inorganic solid waste consists mostly of plastic (containers, bottles, plastic bags, metal, paper and tin.
