The economic value of non-wood forest products (NWFP) collected and/or manufacuted for peasants of the Santa Mercedes community native, Putumayo river, was determined in this study. All non-wood forest species (NWFS) were inventoried in the annual cut plot (PCA) 01-2013 of the forest management area of the community, then six NWFS were selected taking in consideration their relevance as raw material for the NWFP making. These products were quantified as products per hectare, the price of sale and costs of recollection and manufacturing were registered and then the benefit/cost ratio were estimated. L. tenue with 13,41 ind/ha is the most abundant species, whereas Ph. Solimesense with 0,85 ind/ha is the least abundant. These NWFS recollected are used in the community for rural housing, handicraft, food and medicine. The main NWFP are rods form S. exhorriza, fruit clusters from A. chambira and O. bataua, liana in rolls from Ph. Solimoesense and H. oblongifolia and tatch leaves form L. tenue. The manufactured NWFP are crisnejas (roof cover made of palm leaves from L. tenue knitted together around a rod from S. exhorriza) and baskets made of fiber from Ph. Solimoesense and H. oblongifolia. The basket is the NWFP with the highest price of S/: 5/unit, while the lianas in rolls from H. oblongifolia and Ph. solimoesense are sold in S/. 1/unit. The benefit/cost ratio in the recollection and/or manufacturing of NWFP si 0,51 in average, indicating a lost of 49 cents per every Sol invested.
