Methodology: Being a descriptive-comparative study of field with a nonexperimental design, and prospective cross-cutting, with a sample consisting of 70 parents of Cusco and 50 parents of Limatambo; knowledge of cariogenic potential of foods cariogenic factors own food and cariogenic factors of use and consumption of the person: a questionnaire of 20 questions, in which three aspects were evaluated was applied. Results: We pooled on a scale of very good, good, fair and bad. It was found that the level of knowledge about cariogenic of parents of Limatambo food was regularly 21.7%, followed by 18.3% poor knowledge and a good knowledge 1.7%; unlike parents of Cusco was bad 28.3%, followed by 25.8% regular knowledge and a good knowledge 4.2%; finding a significant relationship with prior knowledge of the parent, but not with age, sex and level of education. Conclusions: The level of knowledge about cariogenic foods parents of I.E.I. San Antonio Abad of Cusco was predominantly bad followed by a regular knowledge and parents of I.E.I. Santa Rosa de Lima No. 679. Limatambo was regularly followed by a predominantly bad knowledge.
