This research work is focused on the study of informal employment that exist in little lodging (hostels of 1, 2, 3 stars and lodging establishments without categorize) in the district of Cusco and how worker‘s socioeconomic characteristics, the size and age of the lodging establishment and the type of occupation performed by workers determine informal employment in these little economic units. This research is scientific and has a quantitative approach, because the data obtained through the surveys made to the lodge’s workers are quantified and then, the data obtained is objectively analyzed at descriptive and correlation levels through methods such as the use of crossed tables, bivariate analysis through the use of correlation coefficients and multivariate analysis by establishing a logistic regression model. The preliminary results of the survey show us that the 60.9% of the lodging establishments workers have an informal employment, many of them are salaried, family and domestic workers, this index of labor informality is lower the national one (72%) and regional one (82.3%). It was concluded that the most influential socioeconomic factors for workers who have an informal job in a lodging establishment are an early age and a basic educational level, also, that he/she performs as “housekeeping“, “flyer“, “maintenance“ or “receptionist“ inside the lodging establishment and has a low salary and from the side of lodging, the business must be a small economic unit (Micro and Small Enterprise (MYPE)), without category, has few workers and their most frequent customers are local or regional guests.
