The present research was carried out at the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering-UNALM with the purpose of evaluating the incidence of granulated “Porous Alpha“ in the retention of soil moisture and its effects on the biometric, agronomic and yield parameters of the caraota bean. (Phaseolus vulgaris) with three doses of Porous Alpha and two dosesof wáter sheets through drip irrigation. The work was carried out in three stages: Pre-field stage, where the bibliographic information was collected and analyzed, and were established six treatments: With the required water sheet dose of 50% and 100%; three levels of Porous Alpha 0%, 5%, and 10%; and the experimental units were defined. The field stage consisted of preparing the land, mixing the Porous Alpha with the soil, planting, humidity control and measurements of biometric and agronomic parameters. Cabinet stage, the processing and analysis of the data collected during the development of the crop and at the end of the experiment was carried out, reaching the following conclusions: the least amount of wáter used per kilogram of beans was 3.05 m3 obtained in the treatments with 5% and 10% of Porous Alpha and 50% of required water layer, compared to the treatment of 0% of Porous Alpha and 100% of water layer in which 4.30 m3 of water was used per kilogram of beans. In the treatment with 10% Porous Alpha and 50% of the required water layer, a greater weight of 100 grains (23.15g) was obtained compared to the treatments without Porous Alpha (21.6g). Higher yield (643 kg*ha-1) was obtained in the treatment of 10% Porous Alpha with 50% and 100% water sheet compared to the treatment without Porous Alpha (447 kg*ha-1). Confirming that the Porous Alpha contributes to the retention of moisture in the soil and has incidences in the agronomic parameters, the volume of water and yield of the crop, for which is recommended to carry out similar investigations in different soil conditions.
