This thesis is developed in the health establishment of the Executive Unit 402, Cusco Regional Hospital in biomedical equipment critical units (emergencies, intensive care and surgical center), in 2016. The focus of research is quantitative, applicative descriptive type and level, a total of 160 biomedical equipment was analyzed. By analyzing the maintenance unit of the Regional Hospital of Cusco we found that works without a preventive maintenance plan established, performing only corrective maintenance generating increased costs of repair of biomedical equipment and has no historical records to measure and control maintenance management. Review of literature concerning the design of maintenance plans for equipment health service, study of supply and demand for Units Reviews of Health, diagnosis of the current situation of equipment: the development of the research the following actions spanned biomedical criticism Units under the OMS standards, an assessment of biomedical equipment in order to establish the type of maintenance (preventive or corrective) was performed as required, the criticality of the equipment is obtained according to the guidelines of OMS to set the frequency of preventive maintenance of equipment and perform annual preventive maintenance schedule finally preventive maintenance software which systematizes the maintenance plan for better management developed. Research was obtained that 54% of the equipment required corrective maintenance and 46% preventive maintenance to later find the criticality of biomedical equipment based on OMS guidelines which establishes maintenance frequencies (quarterly, semi-annual, bi-monthly and annual) as appropriate. The investigation concluded that biomedical equipment do not meet OMS standards for which we recommend using the proposed plan preventive maintenance and use of hospital maintenance software to systematize the proposed plan of preventive maintenance.
