The present investigation was carried out in the upper basin of the Rio Mayo, the study area was in three micro-basins specifically Mishquiyacu, Rumiyacu and Almendra and eight towns: San Vicente, San Andrés, San Mateo, El Limón, El Naranjal, Alfarillo, Shaínas and Carob trees. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of climate change on agriculture according to the perception of farmers. The information was collected through two surveys carried out on 56 farmers. The first survey allowed us to obtain a socioeconomic analysis of the populated centers and the second survey allowed us to obtain the perception about climate conservation, El Niño events and climate change. For this, precipitation and temperature data from the last three decades were used. This meteorological information was obtained from stations close to the micro-basins, which was contrasted with the data obtained from the farmers' perception. The results reveal that the majority of farmers who live in the micro-watersheds involved in the study practice subsistence agriculture and few enter the market with their products directly or indirectly through an intermediary company. Also that most farmers know the weather conditions well, but have a limited view of the larger trends that are part of climate change. attributed to the deforestation of the forests, as one of the main causes of the exacerbation of the rainy seasons or dry seasons and the decrease in the production of their crops. From the above, it is concluded that climate change is a problem that must be addressed by the state not only at the regional level, but also at the local level. With respect to the perception of the farmers when contrasting the scientific information, it was possible to observe that there were some contradictions. It must also be taken into account that there are certain limitations as in any survey.
