The general objective of the research is to propose an alternative solution to the growing problem of scarcity of water for human consumption in the city of Huaraz. Until 2005, this resource only covered 87.2 percent of the population, a percentage that, according to the Municipality of Huaraz, decreased to almost 85 percent by 2017. This can be reversed through a storage system using the Paria River. Based on the simulation carried out, it is shown that the water demand of the population in the city of Huaraz is covered by 95 percent. The months with water deficit occur between 2021 and 2028, as well as in the months of August until 2041, guaranteeing the rest of the years 100 percent coverage of drinking water supply in the city of Huaraz. These results are obtained due to the increasing trend in the calculations of water availability. However, it is necessary to consider the construction of one or more structures that can store water during periods of high flow and distribute it during dry periods. The estimated monthly water demand for the city of Huaraz in the year 2072 is calculated at 410.07 L/s. The thesis proposes the construction of a flexible dam curtain due to the seismic nature of the area. According to the calculations made in this study, the height of the dam curtain is estimated at 22.80 meters.
