The diversity of spiders is an important part of the beneficial fauna of agroecosystems. Despite its economic and ecological importance in agroecosystems, the available work in Peru is limited. Therefore, the knowledge and study of biodiversity is necessary to consolidate integrated pest management strategies. The objective of the study was to determine the diversity of spiders in the organic cocoa crop in Tingo María during the months of July 2017 to January 2018. The collections were every 15 days, using pitfall traps (20 traps distributed in five equidistant transects) and direct search (manual and with entomological umbrellas in 20 cocoa trees). Spider individuals belonging to 22 families were recorded, the most representative being Lycosidae (80.45 percent), Salticidae (11.02 percent) and Araneidae (8.21 percent). 113 morphospecies were identified, being the most abundant Allocosinae sp. 1 (20.84 percent) and Hogna sp. 2 (16.09 percent). To our knowledge, this study represents the first contribution to the knowledge of the community of spiders present in organic cacao cultivation in Tingo María, Huánuco.
