In this study, the work experience acquired as part of the professional exercise of the agronomy career is presented, developed and shared. Among the objectives was the training of the farmer in the importance of pH and water hardness using measuring instruments and the elaboration of a map of water hardness in the north coast of Peru. The field work included the use of pH and water hardness measurement instruments, trials with farmers, work with store technicians and distributors, marketing and promotional events and alliances with agrochemical companies. It was possible to appreciate the problem of the uncontrolled use of agrochemicals. It is concluded that since water is the main vehicle in the applications of phytosanitary products, it must have the appropriate conditions (pH and hardness) to ensure the efficiency of the products. Finally, it is evident that the use of regulators and water softeners improve the efficacy of the herbicide, as in the case of glyphosate.
