Global climate models or General Circulation Models (GCMs) are useful tools to simulate the atmosphere’s activity and rainfalls, at meso and large scale. However, higher resolutions are essential when analyzing regions or towns. The statistic scale reduction methods are an alternative for these tools, especially in developing countries which lack the adequate technologies to create their own regional models for atmospheric circulation. Besides, GCM provide information about the future rainfall activity as well as on its possible variations in different climate scenarios. The basins belonging to the water administrative authority of Caplica-Ocoña are used to the changes that may appear, and the rainfalls are a very important factor for the development of the water cycle and farming production, as well as for the economic and social development of the region, especially in Majes and Siguas projects. This study performed the statistic scale reduction of twelve global circulation models for the 1980-1999 period, in 43 stations in the region. These models were used to carry out the space-time and seasonality analysis. Subsequently, by means of statistic tests, a GCM was obtained; this model showed the best matching in the scale reduction with the data collected in the field, according to the seasons of the year (summer, autumn, winter, spring) and according to rainfall regime (mm). Finally, this climate model was used to design future rainfall data for the 2020-2039 period in an A1B climate scenario, with a high global growth, and included a balance technology of all the energy sources (fossil and non fossil).
