Renewable energy projects constitute an emerging market for investments at a global level, given the commitments assumed in various international agreements to reduce greenhouse gases and to combat climate change, and Peru is no stranger to this. However, the development of this type of projects requires to manage a significant number of permits for its execution, which constitutes one of the main bureaucratic barriers for investors. Added to this problem, the country's political situation and socio-environmental conflicts, also constitute important challenges for the development of this type of projects. In view of this problem, the objective of this study proposes the development of an adequate environmental certification and permitting strategy for a Solar Renewable Energy project in Peru, through the knowledge and experience acquired during the professional career. This knowledge has made it possible to identify the main permits that are applicable to a project of this nature, as well as to analyze the different scenarios for its implementation and to identify the key success factors of the most appropriate strategy. The results include the proposal of the permitting strategy for a renewable solar project, which includes the identification of the main permitting matrix, scenario analysis, execution schedule, management with authorities and the definition of the key success factors. This information has been developed with public information available based on current legislation and information from the state entities that grant the permits. Finally, developing and implementing an adequate strategy for the management and obtaining of permits contributes to changing the paradigm that permits constitute an obstacle or barrier to the development of investment projects.
