The Ampay National Sanctuary (SNA) is a natural protected are located in the province of Abancay. It is administered by the National Service of Natural Protected Areas by the State (SERNANP), whose management affects the environmental component but not the social and tourist component due to budgetary limitations. As a result, there is weak participatory management and little tourist use of its natural resources. The aforementioned is limited to the epistemological use of the inductive method, which identified the importance and interrelation that the parties have with the whole in the operation of the SNA, from the operationalization of realities such as biodiversity, SERNANP, population settled in the Sanctuary, management committee and tourism potential; based on the use of interviews and surveys directed to the actors involved, participant observation and documentary and bibliographic review. From what was found in the investigation, the SNA has the environmental and social conditions and the tourist potential to be the main tourist attraction of the Apurímac Region and in the medium term become a tourist product; To achieve this end, the objective of this thesis, is to propose ecotourism as an alternative for protection and development for the SNA, through lines of action of an ecotourism plan.
