The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of age at first calving (AFC) on milk production (MP) in the first two lactations of Holstein cows from Lima since the year 2004 to 2017. Collected the records of 13 634 dairy cows, from five dairy farms registered with the Dairy Productivity Service conducted by the Animal Breeding Research and Social Projection Program of the La Molina National Agrarian University. 10154 dairy cow’s records were to evaluate the effect of AFC on the first lactation and 5320 to assess the effect on the second lactation. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the linear model, using the statistical package SAS OnDemand for Academics The average AFC obtained was 24.79 ± 2.01 months. The average SMP in the first lactation was 8853.24 ± 1486.63 kg, while for the second lactation, it was 9597.33 ± 1621.46 kg. The mean of the first calving interval was 436.44 ± 75.80 days. Thus, AFC had a highly significant effect on the PLE of the first lactation (P<0.0001) but not on the production of the second lactation (P=0.5943). Likewise, there was a highly significant effect of the combination herd, year, and season on the SMP of the first and second lactation (P<0.0001), the calving interval (CI) also had a highly significant effect on the SMP of the second lactation (P<0.0001). It concluded AFC decreased from 26.17 ± 0.17 in 2004 to 24.54 ± 0.08 months in 2017, higher SMP is observed at ages between 23 and 30 months, and longer CI was associated with higher SMP.
