The fruit fly is a pest of quarantine importance in Peru, so SENASA applies phytosanitary measures for the transport of host fruit to regulated areas. In this sense, the aim of this document is to analyze the implementation of the procedure of internal quarantine phytosanitary measures for the fruit flies Ceratitis capitata Wiedemann and Anastrepha spp in the southern districts of Lima, as well as to verify the list of hosts of pests in order to prevent their spread and/or establishment in the regulated areas of Peru. The internal quarantine inspection protocol is based exclusively on the PRO-SCV-14 (2015) manual, which is applied in the centers of origin. According to the above, it can be noted that one of the main difficulties in the inspection process corresponds to the outdated list of fruit fly hosts in the referred manual, since it does not include potential hosts, such as fruit species: golden berry Physalis peruviana, blueberry Vaccinium corymbosum, strawberry Fragaria sp. and pomegranate Punica granatum. In addition, it can be noted that the sampling applied in the fruit inspection procedure would not be representative, since it is ruled by a sampling table that disagrees with the Unified Vegetable Export Procedure for export PRO-M04.02.01 (2021), which indicates that the sampling should be between 1 and 2% of the total.
