The Creole pig (Sus scrofa domestica) has characteristics of rusticity and probable resistance to diseases. These features have made this animal a good breeding alternative in sustainable production systems that serves as an economic basis for farmers’ livelihood and food security. The objective of the study was to characterize ethnozootechnically and genetically the Creole pig (Sus scrofa domestica) from family farmers from the departments of Ayacucho and Apurímac (Perú). 81 Creole pig farmers were interviewed, and 75 and 120 animals were phenotypically and genetically evaluated from each department, respectively. For genetic analysis, DNA was amplified using 13 fluorolabeled microsatellite markers with M13 tail. As a result of this work, it was found that the Creole pig family farmers are made up of no more than 5 members, with an average age of 42, where women are the main caregiver. In both departments, the pigs are dolichocephalic with a black coat, dark mucosa, floppy ears, and the presence of hairs. In Ayacucho the longilíneos type predominates while in Apurímac the brevilíneos one; The genetic diversity is slightly higher in the department of Apurímac than in Ayacucho, finding a structure in the population.
