The vulnerability analysis is part of the risk management process as an essential tool to know the susceptibility of territory against extreme events. Methodologies are being developed involving geospatial modeling technology using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing. The Amazon Region has been ranked as a High Physical Vulnerability, it is therefore necessary to develop more detailed studies like this work, in which the area of the analysis was in the District of Leimebamba, Chachapoyas Province. The aim of the research was to determine the degree of vulnerability in the physical and socio-economic aspect by the analysis and Geospatial model in the SIG platform. The district’s geospatial data base was designed and built; then, the units of each factor were assessed according to their degree of vulnerability to be integrated into sub models. In addition, ponderative factors were applied considering the incidence of each variable in the relevant field. The results show patterns of physical-average socioeconomic vulnerability in 26.40% of the territory including the towns of the north zone as the town center (CP) Leimebamba, Dos de Mayo and Palmira; other smaller CP´s like Ishpingo and Miraflores have a high vulnerability susceptibility being part of 5.53% of the total area. Meanwhile, the south central area district maintains a very high degree of physical-socioeconomic vulnerability with only 0.14%. While the district was identified with a 62.24% of low vulnerability, this is largely due to the heterogeneous distribution of anthropic settlements. Therein, the low levels of social organization against risk scenarios multiply the degree of vulnerability. Finally, it´s recommended to develop detailed studies of interactions that lead to the assessment of alternative protection or control and with the information generated promote risk management plans in the district.
