The tropical secondary forests of Peru are forest ecosystems of great importance. Although generally degraded, disturbed, highly threatened, and inadequately studied, these naturally regenerating forests can still be productive. Understanding the growth of forest species in disturbed environments, as well as the felling shift, is of the utmost importance for the management and exploitation of secondary forests dominated by Ochroma pyramidale, as well as for the conservation of the species and the generation of commercial activities. The main objective of the study was to determine the timber harvesting shift of Ochroma pyramidaletrees growing in degraded secondary Amazonian forests of Madre de Dios, using dendrochronological techniques to determine the age of Ochroma pyramidale trees. The results allow us to affirm that the annual growth rate of the species O. pyramidale in Madre de Dios is 1.1 cm/year-1. With the application of the diameter growth models, it was determined that the age of the technical felling shift with maximum production is 12 years and the age of the technical felling shift with maximum average production is 6 years, which is surprising. So that the technical turn of the species in degraded areas, would allow deciding on the rational use of the species and making technical-administrative decisions on the Mínimum Cutting Diameter (MCD) established by the Peruvian state.
